USS Pampanito Restoration Phase II

In 2016, the Association was successful in raising funds to take the submarine to dry dock. Critical steel structural repairs were made to the submarine below the water line.

On May 11th, 2018 the National Maritime Heritage Program announced the winning grant recipients for their 2018 grant cycle. The San Francisco Maritime National Park Association is proud to have been selected to receive a matching grant of $175,000 for the USS Pampanito Preservation Project – Phase II. In addition, we received $100,000 in private donations.

Phase II proposes to perform steel structural repairs above the water line, replace the decks, move the brow and reposition the 5” gun, restoring her to her 1945 condition.

We need your help in raising the matching $175,000 to finish Phase II so that generations to come will be able to experience the history and beauty of this gallant vessel.

Total Project Cost: $500,000
