The engine room contains the steam turbines that use the steam created in the reactor compartment to turn the propellor shafts. The steam first goes through the high pressure turbine, then the larger, low pressure turbine. Also in this compartment are the evaporators that are used to create fresh water, turbo generators used to generate electricity, air conditioning compressors, emergency diesel generators.
