The payload space contained the electronics for whichever experiments were being carried out. The large blue cabinets contained the video monitoring equipment and was wired to cameras in every part of the ship. This allowed monitoring of the entire ship with fewer crew members.

The grey cabinet with large diameter hoses is the heart of the de-humidification system in use to prevent corrosion aboard Sea Shadow while awaiting her final disposition.

After there is a short ladder that leads to the Fan Room, Inlet Trunk with a hatch in the overhead, and the Anchor Windlass Room.
