USS DARTER (SS-227)Lost October 24, 1944
Darter was run aground on the Bombay Shoal while in pursuit of the Japanese cruiser Takao. Officers and men were taken aboard USS Dace (SS-247) and Darter was destroyed to prevent her from falling into enemy hands.
