USS Pampanito Mooring Chain Updates 2011, 2015

The anchors on the ends of the mooring chains are set up hard when installed in 2010. But the tremendous forces of the boat pulling on them during winter storms causes them to dig deeper under the bay. This brings the boat closer to pier.

In 2011 Manson Construction Inc. (http://www.mansonconstruction.com/) donated their resources to adjust the chains. In 2015 CS Marine Constructors Inc. (http://www.csmarine.com/) donated the adjustments. It is hard to express how much we appreciate the help of these two incredibly skillful and generous companies.

2015 - The crew picks up the weight of the chain with the crane. The chain is heavy, it might have 7,000+ lbs of weight on the hook without the boat touching the chain. They then open the pelican hook. The pelican hook itself is quite heavy (150 lbs or so), the crew can support it on the gunnel of the small boat.
